Finca del Pacuare is comprised of approximately 81 hectors (about 200 acres) of mixed forest and pasture. The altitude of the farm varies from 320 meters at the Rio Pacuare to 660 meters at its highest point. The main house is situated at 640 meters and is just 100 meters from the local road.

The view from the house is spectacular, consisting mostly of uncorrupted rainforest. Several streams and waterfalls grace the farm and are relatively accessible, although not viewable from within either house. A good portion of the farm may be seen via 4x4 but access to the river is either on foot or by horseback. To walk to and from the river requires a considerable amount of fitness and one should be used to such demanding excursions, as the altitude variation is about 1000 feet.

Originally comprised of two distinct farms, the scanned composite of 18 separate images were used to produce the image above. All items are identified in the typing as a portion of the image. To open the image in full sized pdf, click here

Three hundred meters in altitude below the house is the Rio Pacuare. Below shown during the rainy season when the water is high. If you look closely you can see a kayak heading downstream.

From a high point on the finca you can see the main house and corral just above the centerline of the photo below. In this photo you can see the mountainous terrain. A four wheel drive vehicle, although not necessary as horses are used for most finca transportation, is a definite asset.

The photos below were both taken in the area of the “R” in the map above. The lower photo was taken from beside our car, looking to the right, into the Pacuare River Valley. You can see the river in the center of that photo, far below.
