Finca del
Pacuare is located about halfway between Turrialba and Siquirres on the “Old”
road from San José to Limón. We are about a half-mile south of Tres Equis just
off of the San Martín road. Finca del Pacuare is situated at the edge of the
rainforest on the Rio Pacuare, one of the world’s favorite white water rafting
locations.
The yellow
lines in the above image are the approximate locations of the roads. In some
cases the Google Earth road lines are considerably distant from the actual road
and that is the case at many points in this photo. The Rio Pacuare is in the
valley to the right with a major stream intersecting it just south of our farm.
Just over the mountain you can also see the Rio Reventazon on it's journey from
Turrialba to Siquirres. The bare mountain top west of the finca and
approximately north of Turrialba is the Turrialba volcano.
See our
Topography page for a map of the finca with a link to a downloadable pdf file
that was generated from the actual plans.
From Google
Earth, the landscape can be seen but the resolution doesn’t differentiate
pasture from jungle nor is it possible to see the houses but the approximate
location of the farm is shown in overhead view below. The dark line running
north to south is the actual location of the road between Siquirres and
Turrialba although it is indicated by the yellow line. For a map of the finca’s
location in Costa Rica, click
here.

Access is by four-wheel-drive for the last 100 meters or they may be walked, leaving your vehicle at the top of the hill above the house. If walking, extreme care should be taken as it is very steep. Below is a photo of the farm’s egress taken prior to November 2005.

Finca del
Pacuare, S.A. is owned and managed by United States citizens who generally are
in residence at the finca.
English,
German and Spanish are spoken when all are in residence.
There is
also a full time farm worker who lives on the farm. It is very rare that a
visitor would find no one at home but it is better to contact us first for an
appointment to visit.
Tico Times English
Weekly A fairly good source of information about what is going on
in Costa Rica and Central America. The daily page is somewhat limited with only
two or three stories per day.
La Nación Spanish
Language Daily Had an English supplement on line but was limited
in scope to weekly updates. I’ve recently been unable to locate this page. For
Spanish readers it is probably the best source of news in the country.
Inside Costa Rica
Another source of news in English but daily updates are late. It does, however,
have news on the weekends where all the others do not. Extremely politically
motivated and poor usage of the English language.
AM Costa Rica
The absolute best source of news in English.
You may
contact us directly on the finca at 554-11-15. NOTE: Beginning March 20, 2008 another number will be added making the number 2-554-11-15.
The
Country Code for Costa Rica is 506.
Although
dial-up doesn’t always give the best connection you may contact us on Skype at larry.worsham and I am
usually online around 5:00 a.m. Central Standard time. Costa Rica does not go
on Daylight Savings time.
You may
also leave me a message with my Skype In number in the US at 818-921-7209 which will currently be available until the middle of
February, 2009.
